Reebok Refund

Reebok refund involves its toning shoes, which federal government says were deceptively advertised. The size of the Reebok refund could be up to $100 for a pair of shoes, about what consumers paid for them. If you bought Reebok’s EasyTone walking shoes, flip flops , or apparel, or any of its other toning shoes, you’re eligible for a refund. Business Consumer Protection Sports Advertising It’s not clear how big the refund will be because, among other things, the Canton, Mass., company doesn’t know how many consumers will submit claims. Reebok said Wednesday it was setting aside $25 million to settle false-advertising charges from the federal government. Bloomberg Businessweek special reports offer valuable perspectives and analysis. Visit today to join an important business conversation. All but guaranteed is that Apple will unveil a new smartphone next week. There’s still a question as to whether or not the company might reveal more than one new device. Rumors suggest that an iPhone 4S might accompany a new iPhone 5, boasting minor changes and carrying a reduced price tag to generally expand the iPhone’s reach, with one possible target being prepaid cellular-service subscribers. How likely is it that we’ll see two iPhones at next week’s event? Very, given Apple’s track record. Generally, when Apple unveils a new smartphone, it uses the existing model as a lower-cost option, with 8 GB of onboard storage for entry-level shoppers. At the very least, that’s what it will do this time around. Some rumors suggest, however, that we’ll see a slightly changed iPhone 4 reborn as a 4S, with tweaked internal specifications (su

Health Insurance Costs

Image
INDIANAPOLIS — A new survey says health insurance costs rise will less next year for many employers than they have in more than a decade, partly because consumers are dialing back their health care use. Benefits consultant Mercer says the cost of employer-sponsored health benefits will rise 5.4 percent on average in 2012. That compares with an increase of more than 6 percent in 2011. It’s the smallest hike since 1997. Many companies said in the survey that, if they made no changes, their health insurance costs would rise 7 percent next year, but the companies are working to contain workers’ expenses by taking measures like raising deductibles or co-payments and switching insurers.

Astronomer-mathematician Ptolemy (85-165) devised a theory of planetary motions that placed the earth at the center of the universe. The sun, moon, and planets revolved around the earth in the Ptolemaic universe. This notion was accepted for approximately 1,500 years. More on this in a moment... Shelly was in such need of stress management that she was unhappy much of the time. HIV treatment

Sangamo Biosciences Inc. found that their gene therapy successfully reduced HIV infection and even abolished the virus completely in a patient who had genetic mutation, under an early stage trail. SB-728-T gene therapy was tested under the trail. This therapy aimed at disrupting the CCR5 gene, responsible for infection to spread to immune system cells. The success of this therapy could end up the use of traditional antiretroviral drugs that suppresses multiplication of infected cells in the blood. Trail investigator, Dr. Carl June from University of Pennsylvania said, “The findings of the trail provided a better explanation of the relationship between proposed changes in the viral load and CCR5 gene.” June mentioned that their results suggest introduction of large amount of genetically engineered cells in patients with HIV-infection for AIDS cure but the how this can be achieved is not clear. At the start of the study, 10 patients were on antiretroviral therapy. Right a

Cancer Research

Image
Many volunteers world-wide commit themselves to raising funds for cancer research and cancer charities. Many hundreds of thousands more work in the industry as carers, or researching, prescribing, diagnosing and manufacturing drugs. Huge companies spend fortunes on cancer research. After so long and so many billions spent what exactly has cancer research revealed? There have been regular breakthroughs in our understanding of cancer, but little progress in its treatment. Modern research into cancer began in the 1940's and 50's when scientists isolated substances that killed cancer cells growing in a petri dish, or leukaemia cells in laboratory mice. Early successes in chemotherapy set the pace and received much media exposure, even though they only applied to 5% of cancer treatments at most. Serving humanity by solving its major diseases has a celebrity status, there is a lot of kudos and an air of Hollywood involved in such things. Cancer research is high profile

Birth Control Pills

Image
(CNN) -- An Alabama pharmaceutical company issued a voluntary nationwide recall Friday for "multiple lots" of birth control pills due to what it described as a systemic "packaging error." A spokesman for Qualitest Pharmaceuticals said that "there are no immediate health issues currently" because of the packaging problems. Rather, he said, the chief concern is that women may unintentionally become pregnant after taking the oral contraceptive. "The unintended consequence of pregnancy is really the issue," spokesman Kevin Wiggins said. "That's why the company took a drastic action." According to a statement for the Huntsville-based company, "select blisters (found inside the pill box) were rotated 180 degrees within the card, reversing the weekly tablet orientation." This helped to leave the pills' lot number, as well as the expiration date, "no longer visible." "As a result of this pac
